A New Year - A New Marathon!
Well, it's a new year and there's a LOT of catching up to do. But, before I blog anything else, I want to announce that I'm running another marathon! Last year the entire experience was great, from the training to the actual race, but mainly it was the sense of accomplishment from being a part of a really good cause that made the whole thing amazing. And training aside, it was the incredible generosity and support I got from everyone and the knowledge of what I was running for that ultimately kept me motivated and helped me reach the finish line.
So... I'm doing it again. Again with Team In Training, but this time I'm doing it as a team mentor. Besides keeping up with my own training and fundraising, I'll be trying to keep other racers enthusiastic & excited about the event. Another change is the race location - this time I'm going to San Diego to run in their Rock 'N' Roll Marathon. It should be a very different race than the one in Alaska, so I'm anxious to see what it's like to run with lots of people cheering along the course.
My fundraising went really well last year, people helped me raise over $6000 dollars - I'd like to beat that so I've set a target at $7500. I know it's a tough economy this year, so believe me - I appreciate ANYTHING that people are able to give. Please visit my fundraising page to make a donation or see how close I am to my goal. A small portion of the money goes towards covering my training and race expenses, but the majority all goes towards the cause.
The official training doesn't start for another couple weeks, so until them I will try to at least catch up on some 2008 highlights and get my bloggin' going again so I can try to keep this updated during the season.

On our way to Alaska!
Well, the day is finally here... I'm in the car on the way to the
airport with Tom & Jim. Only 16 hours to go till we're there (ha ha).
